“As my memories unfold into images,
they uncover the quiet power of my roots.”
At the intersection of tradition and modernity, this fashion documentary project is rooted in my childhood memories of India. It draws inspiration from the landscapes that shaped my imagination and visual language spaces where history, transformation, and lived experience coexist.
Through this visual exploration, I examine India’s cultural heritage and the diversity of its territories, while weaving in the cinematic narratives and aesthetics of Kollywood that have profoundly influenced my way of seeing. The project also reflects on the role of women in Indian society, their presence, agency, and resilience, and highlights the singularity of hair culture in India as a powerful marker of identity, ritual, and social expression.
Situated between documentary and fashion, this work seeks to evoke a multicultural and intergenerational memory. A sensitive, layered archive seen through my own lens, where the intimate intersects with the collective, and where the past continues to resonate within the present.
